The Gang Who Couldn’t Shoot Straight – Political Assassinations

Launa Woods Village -  We previously compared the Third Board’s attempt at removing director McDaniel as analogous to a B-rated movie.  And like a B-rated movie, the plot seemed to move aimlessly, triggered by  bottle-throwing incident, and a reportedly personal grudge.

First, the board schedules a removal meeting in haste, with insufficiency of notice and apparently with the stated reason that removal is required  due to dissemination of  confidential information  - not sure if this argument is similar to the one other directors have been previously threatened with.

For the removal meeting scheduled  for March 11, 2009 to remove the insufficiency of notice with the advertised attendance of legal counsel, the argument for removal was not persuasive.

Ominously, the removal  meeting has been re-scheduled for Friday,  March 13, 2009 at 4:00 P.M. in the Board Room in the Community Center.  Not sure if bottle water, ladders and or black cats will show up.  The argument now for the removal seems to be borrowed from candidate Obama:  Because we can!  The meeting notice reads in part:  ‘Please take notice that by way of this electronic email per Bylaw Section 6.5.6 and Corporations Code Section 7211, two board officers have called a special open Board meeting”  The two directors have been previously identified as Kathryn Freshley, and John Paulus.  Neither has responded to emails.

With all these changes, we wanted to know which title is most fitting:

  1. The Gang Who Couldn’t Shoot Straight

  1. If at first you cannot assassinate, try and try and try again

  1. When a board runs amok

  1. Friday the 13th in the Village

When the Stanford Prisoner Syndrome strikes the Village

[…] Laguna Woods Village, CA -  Katie McDaniel was removed March 13, 2009 from the Third Mutual Board for no cause, by board members who chose to side with the property management company. More than likely, part of “the cause” stems   from an altercation during a closed door board meeting documented in OC Sheriff’s Battery Report 09-038879, alleging that board president Moore threw a bottle full of water hitting and bruising Ms. McDaniel.  […]
