Mr.
Joseph Lewis AGUIRRE (prefers "JL") has a proven
track record in leading technology companies as president and in
C-level executive positions. He holds an MBA and is certified by the
Small Business Administration. His experience includes raising private
financing, negotiating and setting up strategic relationships,
negotiating mergers, establishing business development efforts,
recruiting, and leading and mentoring senior management teams in the
technology arena. He has extensive high technology start-up
experience. In addition to founding two companies of his own,
CaseNpoint and @WEBO, The “Business Germinator,” JL has been
involved with numerous other young businesses. Of all the start-ups
where he has been engaged for more than 13 months, three have had a
private placement (IPO), one in the U.S. and two in Taiwan. The others
were acquired -- in essence, a 100% hit rate.
Currently,
JL provides incubation services to high-tech companies through his
company @WEBO. @WEBO counts small-sized and Russia-, China-,
Pakistan-, India- and Mexico-based, as well as major Indian infotech
companies as its business incubation clients. Using business
intelligence techniques gathered during this period, JL provides
strategic planning throughout the business life cycle.

JL
has extensive national and international management experience,
including P&L experience in various industries. He founded the
highly successful Aptec University as a tool to develop teamwork and a
vehicle to turn around an under-achieving engineering organization.
The results were on-time project delivery, within budget and improved
company-wide morale. The curriculum included technical as well as
personal growth seminars, such as "How to Manage Stress" and
"High Impact Leadership." Additionally, he started
operations from scratch in California, Iowa, South Dakota, Canada and
Europe. In at least two instances, the companies he was involved with
grew in revenue from under $70 million to over $600 million within
five years. Fortune Magazine named one of the companies the Fastest
Growing Company in the World. Whether managing a small workforce, or a
large one, JL preaches that it is the same; it is only a matter of
organization.
JL has a
unique combination of demonstrated technical management skills,
creative use of new technologies, strategic planning, proven business
development and the ability to communicate with C-level managers of
global companies, board of directors and venture capitalists.
He also
has extensive plant operations management experience for various
industries. His first assignment, shortly after graduation, was a
plant management project for a division of VARIAN. In less than seven
months, production yields increased significantly on previously
designated un-manufacturable products.

process re-engineering
business
re-engineering
|
JL
has been involved in a number of successful re-engineering projects.
Through a systematic re-engineering approach, he was able to turn
around a manufacturing organization that had a workforce of over 600
people, a $40 million excess inventory problem, six months backlog,
quality and morale problems. By re-engineering an organization
chartered with the development of a special purpose supercomputer, the
company obtained contracts from the Japanese Defense Agency, improved
efficiency, and their credibility.
Engaged as
a Chief Operating Officer for an Internet company expecting to have a
private placement within four months, JL immediately determined that
the company did not have a coherent business strategy, management
team, or the right funding in place. He "reverse-engineered"
the business strategy, and as a result, the company re-invented itself
as a technology services firm and pursued a more realistic merger
strategy, rather than an IPO.
|
business
strategy
strategic
planning
|
JL
has extensive experience providing business strategy services to high
technology companies. He has assisted companies involved with B2B
supply chain management, Internet software security, resume
distribution, streaming video services and offshore information
technology services companies. |
Internet
marketing
Internet
advertising
|
JL
developed the @WEBO Index to determine the effectiveness of Internet
marketing and advertising campaigns. As a result, he emphasizes
quantifying actual customer acquisition costs, rather than CPM, or the
use of any other indirect metric. Thus, JL has a unique perspective on
which Internet marketing campaigns work when companies want to pursue
a Path to Profitability (P2P) strategy. |
Internet
commerce
Internet
|
JL
has over 15 years of Internet experience, from development of high
speed special purpose Internet computers used as the backbone of the
information superhighway, to pioneering use of the Internet to provide
customer relationship management (CRM). He has been involved in
C-level engagements for companies involved with domain name
registration, Web hosting, Web development, auction sites, B2B
portals, Internet directory sites, B2C business and affinity groups.
In essence, he has worked with most Internet commerce business models
that are currently in use. |
management
information system
|
JL
was responsible for the successful planning and development of an MIS
infrastructure to support the growth of a company from $80 million to
over $600 million within five years. The starting point was an Amkley
486 as the only server. This included the architecture, development
and deployment of a CRM solution integrating an Expert system, PBX,
and the Internet, and linking the U.S., Taiwan and European
operations. |

He
has an extensive record managing diverse engineering organizations,
from those engaged in hardware, software, and mechanical engineering,
to test and quality engineering. In many cases, the projects were
multi-site, multi-national in scope using in-house and out-sourced
resources. |

JL
has over 20 years of world-class manufacturing experience. He has
worked with everything from extremely complex, low-volume
supercomputer manufacturing to high-volume, process-intensive vertical
manufacturing of telephone transducers. With hands-on distribution and
supply chain management experience, from purchasing to various ERP
implementations, to master scheduling and material control, JL has
been able to solve major inventory and inventory management problems
along the way. He has contracted for and provided distribution
services to global OEM customers. And he has lectured on continuous
quality improvement in Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Mexico. AGUIRRE
developed highly successful production processes still used in Silicon
Valley today. |
quality
management
|
JL
has extensive quality management experience, from managing a quality
organization chartered with quality responsibility for
telecommunications equipment designed to last a minimum of fifty
years, to the articulation, development and implementation of a
quality assurance program applied to the manufacture of a special
purpose supercomputer credible enough to satisfy requirements for
equipment sold to the Japanese Defense Agency. |

Over
the years, he has gained extensive award-winning project management
experience. In one case, JL’s efforts led directly to the PC
Magazine Award for Service and Reliability. In 1996, the company
received the Vendor of the Year Award from Gateway. He successfully
developed the company's first Unix-based special purpose super
computer -- on schedule and within budget. The project entailed
negotiations with the government of Australia for DSP chip and custom
chip fabrication in France and in California, sub-contracting of two
custom chips in Silicon Valley, sub-contracting file system
development in Colorado, in-house porting of a real-time multitasking
kernel, and in-house development of custom chips, hardware and
software. |
trade

|
JL
has extensive negotiating experience. From negotiations with the
government of Australia for Digital Signal Processing chips, to trade
negotiations for services in Europe, Japan, Australia, South America,
and technology partnerships in the U.S., to current work negotiating
trade agreements with information technology suppliers from Russia,
China, Pakistan, India and Mexico. |

As
Founder of Aptec University, he has lectured on technology innovation,
applied the concepts, and reaped its rewards. Through his high impact
leaderships, motivational and management skills, he is able to create
an environment where creativity flourishes. He believes this to be the
perfect method since technology creativity gains can be realized via
small incremental changes, or radical innovation. |

launched marketing programs in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia and
South America. Additionally, he has led marketing efforts for B2B and
B2C Internet companies as well as IT services providers. Through
extensive hands-on start up experience, as well as consulting for
various start-ups, coupled with the development of the @WEBO Index and
other market research methods, JL is well poised to quickly asses
market trends. |
