Child's Play at Saddleback College 

 Mainstage Kids,  a new children’s production company features young actors ages 8-16

Rancho Santa Margarita,  CA – The Saddleback College Community Education and Performing Arts have come together to form a new children’s production company, called Mainstage Kids, featuring young actors ages 8-16.  Their first production,  Seussical Jr. will take place on the McKinney Theatre stage on Saturday, August 6^th at 7:30 pm and Sunday, August 7^th at 2:30 pm.  

Directed and choreographed by Camryn Zelinger and musically directed by Dawn Doherty, this musical extravaganza will delight audiences of all ages.  Horton the Elephant  finds himself faced with a double challenge--not only must he protect his tiny friend  Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him, the only one who recognizes "his kind and his powerful heart." Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant in a story that makes you laugh and cry . Seussical Junior is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).    Tickets can be purchased by calling (949) 582-4656 (noon-4 Tuesday through Saturday) and online atwww.saddleback.edu/arts.  $14 general and $11 children 16 and under.

Saddleback College is located at 28000 Marguerite Pkwy in Mission Viejo, just east of Interstate 5 at the Avery Parkway exit.  Parking is available in Lot 12.  Take Avery Parkway to Marguerite Parkway turn left to the third traffic light, which is Saddleback’s Marguerite entrance. Turn right into the campus and take the third left to “Theatre Circle,” turning right into Lot 12.
