If U-R-N Town, Check Out the P-Police & Saddleback's UrinetownPosted By CotoBlogzz
03-24-2010 | 03:00 PM Mission Viejo, CA – The Department of Theatre Arts at Saddleback College will be presenting Urinetown: The Musical, a satirical comedy musical, with music by Mark Hollmann, lyrics by Hollmann and Greg Kotis, and book by Kotis. Directed by Daniel R. Trevino and Choreography by Ellen Prince, this hysterical show comes to the McKinney Theatre stage on April 16th – 25th. What’s with the title you
may ask? The musical makes fun of its own title in the first scene. In a Steampunk and Gotham-like setting there’s a terrible water shortage, caused by a 10-year draught, that leads to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. It’s a Privilege to Pee is one of the aptly named songs sung by this talented cast. Steampunk is a subgenre of Alternate History; generally dealing with advanced technology in the altered past. Come and join Officers Lockstock and Barrel as they comically try to enforce the laws of this very strange and very funny land.
