The Parasites (US Congress & FDA) in our Midst

Posted By CotoBlogzz  08-31-2010

For sometime now, we have been updating our list of Parasitic Bureaucracies to support our argument that California and the country are in dire need of a  Bureaucracy Realignment and Closure Initiative-  We posist that  such initiative, coupled with the Evil Twins -  the US Economic Triple Constraint: 1)  Card Check 2)  Health Care and  3) Cap & Trade, and  California’s Triple Threat: 1) Public sector organized labor 2) un-elected, un-checked parasitic bureaucracies and 3)  lobbyists.  is of national security importance.

Just like the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), taking a life of its own, "passing legislature", without Congress' approval and directly impacting the US Economic Triple Constraint, now the Food and Drug Administration, through bill S-510, especially the sections dealing with Codex Alimentarius and enforcement,  is poised to do as it wishes with the American food production.  But wait, there is more!  More than 60% of the  bill deals with fines, fees, penalties and other revenue raiser's. Just like  Obamacare, which its author Max Baucus, admits he never read, S-510 requires additional licenses and copious record keeping so prohibitive that  many small  operators  will be leaving the agricultural field. Excessive regulations, licenses, requirements, and other barriers to entry, just like FISH-BHO-Nomics, is a sure recipe for and will prevent next generation
farmers and ranchers from entering agricultural fields.

Consistent with the Law of Unintended Consequence, " If this bill S. 510 passes, it will give the government far reaching authority in other areas, not just food choices. They’ve been trying to shutdown the supplements and vitamins for years due to lobby of the pharmaceutical companies. Soon, we will be forced to accept ALL of THEIR mandated choices," adding " Codex Alimentarius  - the REAL threat to World health"

Campaign for Liberty President John Tate  issues the following warning:

"Like Cap and Tax, which will guarantee higher energy bills during these rough economic times, S. 510 will further drive up the costs of living by adding more layers of bureaucracy on food production – ensuring you pay more to meet an essential need."

Just like in the case of the EPA, Section 401 of S. 510 authorizes nearly $1 billion to grow the FDA’s reach and calls for almost 4,000 new bureaucrats to be hired in fiscal year 2010 alone.  And similar to the  the Global Warmist scientists, the parasites,  have worked to replace  credible evidence with  reasonable probability in the U.S. Code, giving the FDA power to invade, quarantine, or shut down private property in search of any food borne illness

"It should be noted that Senators Tom Harkin (D-IA), Mike Enzi (R-WY), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Judd Gregg (R-NH), Chris Dodd (D-CT), and Richard Burr (R-NC) coordinated to reach a "bipartisan" agreement to forge ahead with the otherwise stalled bill," says Mr. Tate, adding "If you are a constituent of any of these senators, they especially need to hear from you.:  Click here to contact your senators today to tell them to oppose S.510!" concluding with this warning:  government is "...combating the truly modern way to improve food safety by targeting the rapidly growing number of food  producers who, through the free market, provide diversity and give us choices. The establishment is pushing for more consolidation and is looking to control your food choices to make it happen. Don’t stomach another round  of tyranny. Contact your senators today.

If you disagree with the tenet of ths S-510 Bill, like we do, please send a letter to your Senator - see sample below.

Sample Letter

Dear Senator

I am vehemently opposed to S. 510.  It enlarges the FDA’s authority too much and will seriously hamper the free choices citizens should have available to them for their food sources.  Additionally it will drive up the costs of living by adding more bureaucracy to food production at a time citizens cannot afford rising prices.

This onerous bill will disadvantage reputable food producers including independent family farms and encroaches on the efficiency of the free market to provide the public healthy choices. Lining the pockets of the larger entrenched agricultural interests is not in the public’s best interest.

I urge you to vote NO on S. 510!!

Expecting your support,
