Rancho Santa Margarita, CA  - Anna Bryson,  the current president of the Capistrano Board is running for re-election on Nov. 2 on a slate backed by the Committee to Reform CUSD announced today the personal endorsement of  Grover Norquist,  the creator and promoter of the "no new taxes" Taxpayer Protection Pledge.

Anna Bryson is a businesswoman, Former President & CEO, Software Technology Company running for  CUSD Trustee Area 4. which includes Dana Point,  portions of Laguna Niguel, Dana Point and San Juan Capistrano. Elected in 2006 for a term ending November 2010. She is one of the “ABC Reform” trustees.

Anna Bryson

"In the face of the district’s budget woes that the Reform board inherited and California’s widely-reported state budget crisis,"  Norquist writes ferring to the he Capistrano Reform slate which includes  board members Ellen Addonizio, Larry Christensen, Mike Winsten, and Ken Lopez-Maddox.    "Anna and her fellow Reform trustees refused to call for increased taxes and  Instead, facing the realities of the fiscal situation,  Bryson and her fellow trustees cut administrative staff and administrator and teacher pay,"  he said

Norquist added: "This successful imposition of a teacher pay cut by the Capistrano district board while Anna was Board President received statewide attention.  Thereafter, bargainers in school districts’ negotiations with public-employee unions up and down the state of California showed a new reasonableness, a new common sense, a new desire 'to be part of the solution,' and a new willingness to face the truth of the financial situation. This could be seen from Saddleback  to Sacramento."

The CUSD  race is shaping up as showdown between concerned parents and taxpayers, on the one side, and public-employees' unions, on the other.

Norquist is the President of Americans for Tax Reform.   Norquist made his endorsement as an individual in his personal capacity, not on behalf of any organization.  Americans for Tax Reform does not make endorsements in local races.

A Capo teacher opines that CAPO teachers are nice - the problem is with the fiscally responsible CUSD board members. We agree - CAPO teacher are nice:

Teachers are nice and want everyone else to be nice, this is the main reason teachers endorse criminalizing home schooling - Parents are NOT nice - they teach hateful thinks such as values, work ethics, commitment and getting ready to be competitive in the age of globalization.

Teachers or Leeches at CUSD and LAUSD?

In the first piece of a series, I made the argument that there is a need for a radical transformation in public education, as opposed to the continuous union bickering, such as the one going on in CUSD and the LAUSD, for that matter. While the next pieces are not ready for publication, the conclusion should include the imperative that the California Teacher’s (CTA) Union must be neutralized, if the state is to avoid a Greece-like environment on short order.
