So a Former Employee Walks Into a Laguna Woods Board Meeting and Says, You Owe me - Get it?

Laguna Woods Village, CA - When Chinese-born, bio-chemist turned comedian Joe Wong was invited to the Late Night Show with David Letterman in 2009 the audience cracked up when he walked in and said "Hi everybody...So, I am Irish." While Mr. Wong's humor makes an American audience laugh, in China, where he grew up, people just do not not think it is funny.

We understand that director Ruth May is not returning the calls of residents who are asking about this meeting.

It should be noted that just before this most curios meeting, there was a closed GRF special meeting on the schedule for this coming Friday which just happens to coincide with HOA Ware Hero Mike Curtis's memorial service, with director Matson refusing to reschedule such meeting.

Ms. May's meeting raised other questions in other residents such as: "What is a terminated service provider doing onsite?" and "Does he still have access to the gated community?"

Common Interest Development author and LA Times Columnist D. Vanitizan raised other questions when we asked to opine: "Was this meeting sanctioned by the entire board of directors at a duly convened meeting with an agenda that was noticed to all titleholders? If so, where are the minutes evidencing that motion and granting authority to this one person to attend?" she said. " Who initiated the meeting? What is the purpose of the meeting. It would be interesting to learn if any attendees including but not limited to Mr. Johns will be, is, and/or are, privy to any confidential information?", she added.

Others are questioning Ms. May's judgment and are calling for her resignation.

However, just like in the case of Joe Wong, whether you think there is anything wrong, or whether something is or is not funny, largely depends on your pre-disposition.

We tried to reach directors in the GRF, United Mutual and Third Mutual board to help us set the record straight. We also tried to contact executives at the property management company PCM, including media relations representatives. No one was able to respond by today's deadline.

Laguna Woods Village, CA -Whether the United Board recall is absolutely necessary is debatable. What is not debatable is the Golden Rain Foundations board’s behavior during the June 2, 2009. When all residents wanted was a little respect, board president Erwin Stuller resorted to unnecessary defamatory and personal attacks. What is more appalling is that the rest of the board failed to step in and apply a modicum of decorum to the proceedings. Such behavior is not only despicable but calls for an apology and stepping down. The video clip capturing Mr. Stullers less than despicable behavior during the proceedings are quickly becoming a rallying cry against abusive HOA directors.
