The CHP, Best Return on Safety Buck for Coto, Ladera.Posted By CotoBlogzz 01-09-2010 | Rancho Santa Margarita, CA - Using the California Highway Patrol (CHP) for pro-active traffic enforcement in Coto de Caza and Ladera Ranch communities continue to yield the best return for the safety dollar. Consider that the city of Rancho Santa Margarita pays the Orange County Sheriff's Department roughly $150/per capita, the City of Laguna Woods $60 and Thousand Oaks some $20.00, while Coto de Caza pays the CHP less than $8.00. Further, consider that the AVOID program final 2009 Holiday results reported that from 12:01 AM Friday, December 18, 2009 through Midnight Sunday, January 3, 2010 Deputies and Officers representing 38 county law enforcement agencies, arrested 602 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs – this means that it took three law enforcement agents to make one arrest.
On the other hand, the Ladera Ranch traffic incident trending report for the last three months of 2009 is identical to the previous six months - cannot represent more stability than that.
In this case, there were no reported DUI-related traffic accidents, three personal injury and ten property damage.

Into a City - Overview Orange County Crime Down, Nation's Crime Up - While the FBI is expected to report a 1.3 percent rise in violent crime nationwide in 2006 — an increase for the second straight year, Sheriff Michael Carona today announced that criminal homicide, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft decreased by 3.7% in jurisdictions served by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in 2006. “This is great news for Orange County. Violent crimes decreased by 7.72% and property crimes decreased by 3.76% as compared to 2005. The men and women of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, in partnership with our residents, community leaders, and business owners, continue to make law enforcement a top priority. We are, once again, one of the safest communities in the nation,” said Sheriff Carona. Coto
