Another Chapter in the “As the
World Turns in Laguna Woods” Series
Who
should care about Bea, or Ortiz for that
matter?
Laguna Woods Village – So who should
decide whether the KPMG meeting
scheduled for Friday March 26 should be
recorded and televised so the community
can be informed? Should it the
property management company (PCM)?
Should it be the Golden Rain Foundation
Board (GRF) of directors? Should the
decision be made by the United Board of
directors? What about PCM’s
Channel 6 Station Manager, Paul Ortiz?
If you ask Bea McArthur, a GRF board member and current secretary, she has no position when inquiring as to whether the KPMG meeting is to be televised “I have had 4,941 e-mails on this subject. I take no position, however, do we have a plan to record this soporific event?” - Ho, Hum, do you supposed American Idol is as popular?
So the question asked of Bea my Michael Curtis in no uncertain terms is: TV or not TV Bea?
Come on now Bea …. you don’t need to play the same old games. Times are changing and this community expects more accountability. If it bores you, don’t attend - or you just might watch from home if it were televised.
What is Ortiz, saying? Does United really control this, or is it GRF? Of course it’s GRF. The request went to GRF from at least one United director … It was also copied to all boards, directors, and Channel 6 some weeks ago (and before the last Broadband meeting). Why no feedback from PCM, GRF, or others?
If you needed a request from a president, then you should have made that clear long ago. After all, you’ve had a large number of requests, and you’re responsible for Broadband.
It’s shameful PCM management and board members act like children when our $95M business is involved. Friday is a regular work day for PCM, and every board member should have a deep interest in making sure residents are fully informed.
Not being open with our audit information stinks … big time! It’s our money, it’s our audit, it’s our TV resources, it’s our staff, and it’s our boards. Audit findings should be widely available.
Many people work and cannot be at the meeting. They need this meeting recorded and available on Channel 6.
But these PCM games and their contempt for residents continue don’t they. And board members just go along with it - or maybe they just find it too soporific. If so, they need to get off the board.
Last year it was televised. It should happen again this year. It should not be some big deal.
At the same time and to cover his basis, Mr. Curtis sends in a request to United Mutual President Lloyd Foster to ask “PCM’s Channel 6 Station Manager, Paul Ortiz, that this important meeting be recorded and televised to our community. Seems he’s waiting for word from you”
Apparently Mr. Foster, like Bea, did not have a position on the matter either, as he had to ask “ …the Chairman of the Select Audit Committee if he wanted the meeting Friday to be televised he said yes”, so Mr. Foster then instructs Mr Ortiz to “… arrange for televising the meeting same as last year”
So apparently the answer is TV - since Mr. Ortiz’s confirmation to Mr. Foster reads in part: “Okay. We will have to do as we did last year and tape the meeting and broadcast it later in the day. We have scheduled the tape delayed broadcast for Friday, March 27 at 6 pm”
Should
the property management company
employees not be responsive to the needs
and or inquiries from the residents, or
is an iact of Congress really
necessary? Or perhaps
this is just positioning for the Ultimatum?
In any case, for the question of TV or
not TV Bea? The answer is TV!
