United Recall  Petition Signed Sealed and Delivered - Finance Committee Meeting

Posted by CotoBlogzz  | 06/01/2009 05:00 PM

Laguna Woods Village, CA - As promised, earlier today United Mutual director Michael Curtis  during the Finance Committee Meeting, delivered a petition to recall certain United board boards, with close to 100 verified signatures over an above the required 5% minimum.  The plans are to formally re-submit the petition at the next board meeting on June 9th.

Mr. Curtis did in fact handed a  Petition for Removal to the United President near the beginning of the meeting.

The committee actually had the recall on the agenda for discussion and recommended approving $38,500 for an outside election company to conduct as many as two ballot elections, one for the removal of directors and one for filling the vacancies.  When one GRF director complained about the cost, Curtis reminded them that, according to Janet Price's own email, PCM was secretly payout as much as $20,000 per week ($1,000,000 per year).  As is now common practice Mr. Curtis was hooted down by fellow board members.

Marv Rosenhaft, after being goaded by Arlene Miller and Gail McNulty, suggested that those who signed the petition be the ones who pay for it.  In essence, suggesting retribution and punishment for the people who signed the petition – notwithstanding the fact  that the signatories were exercising their rights and responsibilities in clear sign of displeasure with the status quo. Board president, Lloyd Foster indicated there were plans in the works to present two or thee

Treasurer and committee Chairman Paul Vogul, kept calling the room to order, banging on the table and in general demonstrating his abject and complete ignorance and or conscious disregard  for laws, by-laws, rules and or  regulations,

Apparently Linda Wilson and Gail McNulty did not seem to have as much to say as usual. Perhaps they have been able to see the writing on the wall:  There is going to be a recall and their names will show up prominently.

Near the end of the meeting, Mr. Curtis warned the directors that they must take this petition process very seriously, and that it could not be discussed at closed sessions.  He warned the directors that any  recall discussion or election issues in a closed session was illegal - anything related to the recall and election must be at a public meeting.  Thusly warned, the remainder of the United Board stayed for a closed session and Mr. Curtis was not allowed.  Apparently not allowing a full fledged director to participate in a closed door session is not unusual for the United Board.  In the recent past, Ray Barrett was also not allowed to attend closed sessions
