Free Concert Hour at Saddleback College August
8,
2008 The Music Department at Saddleback
College presents Concert Hour, a variety of
individual and ensemble performances on Thursdays from
Noon to 1 p.m. in Fine Arts Room 101. Admission
is free. The Saddleback College Music
Department has established a comprehensive program
which is considered to be one of the finest in
California : a complete lower-division
curriculum for transferring music majors, numerous
performance groups, private and group lessons, a full
concert series with faculty and guest artists, and
general music courses. The nationally recognized
faculty is dedicated to performance and to teaching in
all areas such as vocal, instrumental, jazz, guitar
and piano. Other music classes include harmony,
musicianship, composition, history and appreciation of
western art music, rock, jazz and world. Concert Hour Schedule: September 4, 2008. Director
of Jazz Studies Joey Sellers gathers musicians who
improvise in a variety of musical contexts.
Music in the present tense with no safety net. October 2, 2008. San
Francisco-based award-winning cellist Sarah Fiene and
Saddleback College faculty member Norman Weston
present a recital of music for cello and piano,
including works by Piazzolla, Part and Schubert, and
the premiere of Mr. Weston’s Aria for
unaccompanied cello. November 6, 2008. Goose
Girl by Thomas Pasatieri. An opera for children
of all ages will be performed as a concert version by
members of the Saddleback Vocal Program and directed
by Dr. Scott Farthing . December 11, 2008. Saddleback
voice, instrumental, piano and jazz students perform
in recital. Come and show your support for these
aspiring musicians!
