OCSD: Back From the Future – Transparently Intransparent

We
keep looking for tell tale signs to see whether the Transformator
is having an impact on the OCSD’s much maligned
organizational culture. Simple baby-steps will
do, thank you very much.
Sadly, other than the initial media accessibility,
seems like we are back to the same old, same old.
Repeated requests for specific
information on the Sheriff’s
120-Day Plan, Chief Scott’s departmental Audit
and a Coto de Caza stabbing have been met with the
obligatory “I am checking” by the OCSD’s

On the Coto de Caza stabbing for instance, we are
asking for a simple status on a 60-day old incident,
understanding that as someone has said “spoiled
Coto kids have simply lawyered up and
uncooperative”
We understand any investigation needs to be thorough
and can be time-consuming. And while we do not
expect the department to divulge information which
could compromise the case, we expect some sort of
transparency – something Sheriff Hutchens promised
– yet not delivered in this and other cases.
Simple questions we are asking for instance are:
· What is the status of the
investigation?
· Is the investigation ongoing?
· What is the relative position of
this investigation in the grand scheme of things in
terms of importance?
· Have the spoiled kids indeed
lawyred up?
Might this be too much to ask?
If so, it is understandable that the more difficult
questions are simply being ignored.

DOES ITS JOB – CZ BOARD PLEASE DO YOURS!
- Despite the public abuse the CHP has received
from the Coto de Caza board of directors ever since
the board was coerced into bringing the CHP back for
pro-active traffic patrol, figures indicate that the
CHP is doing its job: Trend for accident rate is
down and close to pre-firing levels. Just
as important, the number of Coto residents arrested
for DUI is down. See
