Coto de Caza, Ladera Ranch, 2Q2008 Crime and Vandalism Trending July
12,
2008
Since we started reporting crime and vandalism figures, the OCSD has gone through some changes in the way it collects or reports the data. For the past year or so, the data has been retrieved largely by hand. For this report, we understand it has been done programmatically. While in the past it was hit and miss trying to get the data, this time the report was ready as promised. We did note a couple of differences in this quarter's report. For example, the total figure reported for Coto de Caza last quarter was 79. In the recently received report, for the same quarter the figure is now 63. Similarly for Ladera Ranch, the previously reported 1Q2008 figure was 114. The current report shows it now as 124. We have asked the OCSD for clarification. Meanwhile, we are using the latest figures.

Despite the public abuse the CHP has received
from the Coto de Caza board of directors ever since
the board was coerced into bringing the CHP back for
pro-active traffic patrol, figures indicate that the
CHP is doing its job:
Trend for accident rate is down and close to
pre-firing levels.
Just as important, the number of Coto residents
arrested for DUI is down. See
