OCDA:
Lack of manpower, Lack of Willpower, Lack of Cognitive
power or too Much Power

According to the
Orange County District Attorney website,
"The mission of the Office of the
District Attorney of Orange County is to enhance
public safety and welfare and create a sense of
security in the community through the vigorous
enforcement of criminal and civil laws in a
just, honest, efficient and ethical manner"
Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas,
joined by Doug Brenn, Deputy Chief for the
Investigative Division of the Department of
Motor Vehicles, Sgt. Dave Vullo and Detective
Dave Pasino from the Orange Police Department,
Senior Deputy District Attorney Doug Brannan and
Senior Assistant District Attorney Joe
D'Agostino of the Orange County District
Attorney's Office held a press conference this
past Thursday to announce
the arrest of four defendants in what
he characterized as " the largest fraud
case against a car dealership in Orange County's
history. "
It was only after 27 identity
theft police reports were filed with the Orange
Police Department regarding Douglas Nissan of
Orange and more than 100
complaints had been filed with the Department of
Motor Vehicles and Better Business Bureau about
Douglas dealerships for unfair business
practices between 2005 and 2007 that according
to the DA's own version of the facts, the Orange
County District Attorney's Office began an
investigation circa April 2007.
After alleged complaints of senior abuse in
Laguna Woods Village reached a crescendo this
week the Laguna Woods Village property
management company sought to keep a 73-year
old lady from assaulting, battering or
stalking 50-yearl old Milt Johns, head of
Professional Community Management, and
46-year old PCM spokesperson Wendy Bucknum,
according to court documents filed September 18,
2008. Apparently the disgruntled
73-year old lady's passionate emails inflicted
emotional distress on the property management
company's otherwise robust employees. We
asked the Orange County District's Attorney's
Office for comments on the restraining order and
the alleged senior abuse in Paradise. The
prompt and unequivocal response from
OCDA's Spokesperson Farrah Emami was "The
residents of Laguna Woods are encouraged to
contact the Orange County Sheriff's Department (OCSD)
as soon as possible if they feel they are the
victims of a crime. OCSD is the law enforcement
agency that can take reports for the City".
We have contacted the OCSD, but no response to
date.
Separately, we have asked OCDA's Spokesperson
Farrah Emami multiple times a simple question:
Has the OCDA's office received information from
the CHP about a particular case?
Apparently the question is above the OCDA's pay
grade, or is being investigated - for weeks!
If this is what the OCDA office means by "enhancing
public safety and welfare and create a sense of
security in the community through the vigorous
enforcement of criminal and civil laws in a
just, honest, efficient and ethical manner",
all we can say is that a good number of seniors
do not feel safe in Laguna Woods Village, to the
point of wondering if their phones are being
tapped and or their email is intercepted, for
instance.
