Did
they, or did they not?
September
16,
2008
On
<a recent> Channel 6 News program, Cheryl
Walker, reporter for the Laguna Wood Globe stressed
three times: "Never, ever, in the years I have
been here, has the PCM staff, or any group from the
boards, gone over our heads to the Register to try to
control editorial content in the Globe or the
web." Wrong,
Cheryl, read this:
Let's
go back to the Third Board Regular Meeting of 16
May, 2006 In his Chairman's report President Moos
commented on the renewal of the Management Agreement,
reported on the recently held All Boards/All Directors
Board Meeting, and commented on letters published in the
newspaper as follows: "…Several of us got in touch with the editor of the
Globe, our weekly magazine, because the tone of some
of the letters that were published, we felt was not
appropriate."
This was a definite attempt
by the President of the Third Laguna Hills Mutual to
control the editorial content in the Globe and also
threaten our constitutional right of Freedom of
Speech. with all due respect to Cheryl, we have to
remember that she is just the messenger, does not set
policy, and is subjected to extreme pressure from
above.- Laguna
Woods Village, Joe Fischler
