Rumors, Rumors, Vox Populi Vox Dei – paraphrasing the OCR

“Village
Snopes would be nice to dispel myths that are causing
havoc on the mutual boards”, reads an article titled
“ Rumors false, and published December 18,2007 by
the OCR. The article asserts that according to Third Mutual president Cynthia
Conner, claims that the board is planning on removing
director Stanley Feldstein are untrue.
This coming right after Mr. Felstein was
“politically assassinated” as president of Third
Mutual and replaced by none other than Ms. Conner.
Ms
Conner has correctly observed that “ while officers
serve at the pleasure of the board, directors are
voted on by mutual members”, but this should not be
a surprise to anyone familiar with HOA politics, and
perhaps one reason why Mr. Felstein’s total
political demise was not consummated earlier?
On the other hand, a director can be removed by
simple resolution of the board if that director does not meet basic
qualifications. Paraphrasing
President
Clinton when he tried to define the word “is”,
it all depends what “basic” means.
Or a more recent example from Presidential
Candidate Governor Mit Romney, it all depends what
“seeing” means – does it mean I need to be there
to “see”?
Interestingly,
the Resident’s Voice commented on Ms Conner’s jab
aimed at her critics: “Residents
Voice believes that there is/was indeed a plan, and a
desire, by the Group of Six to remove Feldstein from
the Board. This belief is corroborated by Conners
subsequent statement during this Board meeting, that,
“Over the past month there has been a lot of
discussion about what it takes to remove a director
from the board… “ If there was no plan,
or desire, to remove Feldstein, then why did the Group
of Six spend a month discussing “what it takes to
remove a director” from the Board?
| Ms Conners lamented that “ there was no place where residents could debunk rumors”. But of course, she is not correct.
