I am thankful for the taxes I pay, even when used in a redistribution of wealth scheme, because it means I am employed or have my own business.

I am also thankful.....

......for the clothes that fit a little too snug, because it means I have had enough to eat.

For a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning and gutter that needs fixing, because it means I have a home.

For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot, because it means I am capable of walking

For my huge utilities bill, because it means I am warm during the winter and cool during the summer.

I am thankful for the friend who says nothing when there is nothing to be said, for that means he is a true friend

I am thankful for  the pile of laundry and ironing because it means I have clothes to wear

For the shadow watching me work, because it means I am working outdoors

I am thankful that the Lord is using me as an  instrument of peace: sowing love where there is injury, pardon where there is doubt, faith where there is despair, hope where there is darkness, light
and where there is sadness, joy...

When I complain that my bed is not ergonomic enough, I then realize I should be thankful I have a roof over my head and a bed I can retire whenever I want.

  I am thankful for the mess I have to clean after a party, because it means I am  surrounded by friends

I am thankful that I can    
 console,  understand and love, rather than be consoled.

For the weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day, because it means I have been capable of working hard.

For the California Teachers Association and the ACLU not being deployed to war zones, because it means God has not been taken out of the battlefield

 

And finally, for all the complaining about government incompetence and corruption, because it means our men and women in uniform continue to secure our freedom
