What June
5, 2007 During the 2007 CZ Master Association Candidate’s
Nigh (in preparation for the 2007 CZ board of
directors' election), incumbents Varo/Mezger
insisted that because Ladera Ranch residents were
making a public spectacle, CHP hours
that otherwise might be allocated to Coto de
Caza, were not. 2007 CHP enforcement hours in the Coto de Caza area are down
60% compared to 2006 CHP enforcement hours.
Yet, the citations/CHP-hour continues to
increase almost two-fold, for speeding alone! What does it take for Coto de Caza residents to make a public
spectacle, so the community can get additional
enforcement hours from what the OCR calls
“mercenaries”, err…. hired-hands?.
Heck, even
enforcement hours from the law enforcement
agency "significantly vested in the
community", as the OCR calls this agency and the
one which the community has been promised (by board
president RObert Varo), it will get “shortly”, for
the last five years, will do! Particularly when crime in Orange County is in a downward trend, but not so in unincorporated communities, such as Coto de Caza. In fact according to the latest Sheriff figures, crime is up, comparable to the national trend in the nearby city of Rancho Santa Margarita. What
it will take is for the new Board leadership led by
Steve Zipperman to build a great relationship with the
CHP. Obviously, that may mean apologies for the
past Varo/Mezger blunders; but sometimes eating crow
is the only way. Most important, Varo &
Mezger should not be part of any meetings with the CHP
since they did so much to damage the relationship.
