The
Art Gallery at Saddleback College opens its Spring
Season with Jorg
R. Dubin’s figurative works in oil on March 19
through April 5, 2007 in the Saddleback College Art
Gallery . Dubin is often referred to as a visual
existentialist, and the subjects of his portraiture
are often depicted at a trivial moment or at a
critical crossroads in life. In his portrayal of
a face or full figure, this intriguing artist reveals
their essence, creating a mood that elicits a definite
emotional response in viewers. He allows the raw
bones of the painting process to seep through yet he
doesn’t try to hide his tracks and make everything
look as pat as a photograph. Born in Eugene,
Oregon, Dubin resides in Laguna
Beach and has exhibited at the Smithsonian
Institute and in galleries and museums all over
Southern California including, Laguna
Beach, Newport
Beach, Santa
Monica, Long
Beach, Santa
Ana and Palm Springs. Collectors of his
works include the Peter Blake Gallery, Laguna Art
Museum, the Art Institute of Southern California,
Concordia University, the Jeffery Evans Tucker
Collection, the City of Laguna Beach, Bank of America
Corporation, 1 Base T Corporation and the City of
Brea.
Jorg R. Dubin’s exhibition of sixteen figurative
works in oil, which is free and open to the public,
can be viewed on March 19 through April 5, Monday
through Wednesday, Noon to 4 p.m. and Thursday
evenings, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. There will be an
artist reception on Thursday, March 8 from 6:00 to
9:00 p.m. In addition to normal Gallery hours,
the Gallery will be open on Saturday, March 24, 10:00
a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
