Who Shot the Sheriff? – Apparently the G-Word!

In an indictment unsealed today, Sheriff Michael Carona is
charged with seven felony counts and faces two counts
of witness tampering, allegedly for attempting to
persuade a former assistant sheriff to lie to a
federal grand jury.
Deborah Carna, the Sheriff’s wide and
Debra Hoffman a Newport Beach attorney identified in
the indictment as the Sheriff’s mistress, were also
charged
There was no comment from the sheriff's office.
However, Supervisor John Moorlach said Carona
should let a subordinate run
the department, until an election is held in June.
Perhaps the writing had been on the wall, as
the Orange County board of supervisors have been
circling the Sheriff’s wagons for a while, voting
unanimously to appoint an oversight board earlier this
year.
The G-men had previously gotten two top former aides to
flip against Carona: Dove Canyon resident George
Jaramillo, and Don Haidl, reached agreements with the
government, agreeing to plead guilty to federal
charges in exchange for their cooperation in building
the case against Carona. Carona deprived county
citizens of his services, that he had sworn should be
"performed free from deceit, fraud, concealment,
bias, conflict of interest and self-dealing," the
indictment says.
