A Tribute to Mr. Morteza Manian On The  First Anniversary of His Tragic Death

February 22, 2007

As Mr. Morteza Manian was riding his bicycle on a lazy Sunday afternoon, just like he had done so many times before, a 16 year old female driver of a Nissan Frontier approached the same intersection at Lexington Way and struck the left side of Mr. Manian.

Mr. Manian was transported to Mission Regional Hospital, and succumbed to his injuries in the late hours of 3/12/2006.

We believe there are no coincidences, only Godincidences.  We also believe that Mr. Manian would be extremely upset if somehow we were able to mourn his unfortunate departure so much that he would be summoned back to earth.  We know that as tragic as his death was, it was his turn.

This tribute, consistent with the song written by Peter Seeger based on the Book of Ecclesiastes (see below), is a time to celebrate Mr. Manian's legacy while he was with us.

To everything - turn, turn, turn
There is a season - turn, turn, turn
And a time for every purpose under heaven

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

A time to build up, a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn

A time to cast away stones
A time to gather stones together
A time of war, a time of peace
A time of love, a time of hate
A time you may embrace
A time to refrain from embracing

Mr. Mortez Manian

Mr. Morteza Manian was an Electrical Engineer by trade and  a very kind and gentle man by nature.   A wonderful husband, father and teacher, Mr. Manian was generous and  lived by the motto:" the more you give, the more you get"

He loved flowers and working in the yard.

...and the flowers keep coming in tribute to Mr. Manian

To remember him, volunteers will be lighting candles and or leaving flowers at the place of the tragedy, as early as this weekend and beyond March 12.  If you are interested, stop by and celebrate Mr. Manian's legacy (Accident Location:)

Now it is our turn - what legacy will be leave behind?
