Honesty
in Coto
de Caza Supplier Management
January
31, 2007
The Coto de Caza board of
directors is fortunate to count in its members
self-described supplier management experts. In fact, the Orange County Register has quoted one of them as
“staking his reputation on honesty” – so the
question is:
- Honestly,
do you think the CHP is being managed fairly
- Honestly,
do you think that the firing of Tri-County
Lighting after 18 years of service to the
community was handled properly?
- Honestly,
do you think that the association training
suppliers to cover for the supplier’s
deficiencies does not add to association liability
and it is the right thing to do – even though
the CHP is not afforded the similar leeway?
Honestly
the board does not know what it is doing?
Folks,
there is no Supplier management happening in Coto.
CZ does not implement proper Supplier Selection and
Contract Management procedures from what I can see and
I do this for a living. It is what it is.
Property Management companies are administrators not
managers. And, all the suppliers in the industry
that make money off of Associations are very cozy.
They don't rock boats. That is why only the
Board of Directors can properly fill this role.
That is also why I have consistently recommended that
the Board appoint a standing Supplier Selection and
Contract Management committee composed of our Members
and headed by a Board Member. The current
incompetent Varo/Mezger CZ Board is focused on the July
4th Parade instead of minding the store. I
saw the process used to select Universal with my own
eyes. The very idea that a $1.6 million contract
was given out without proper due diligence is plain
and simple malfeasance. We have to get our house
in order; but it will not happen until we have CZ
Board Members who understand their fiduciary
responsibility. Joe Morabito
