The
Enemy in Coto de Caza's Midst - The CHP!
January
28, 2007
Considering the
history of Coto de Caza,
Can you name
all the service providers that have been on a
quarterly review (rather than yearly review) – to
make sure the service it provides is acceptable?
Can you name the members of the board of
directors when such actions have taken place?
Can
you name the service providers with such poor
performance that the board of directors
decided to retrain these service providers
(instead of firing them)?
Can you name the members of the board of
directors when such actions have taken place?
This
is to illustrate the fact that there has not been a
board that has exhibited such depraved indifference as
the Varo/Mezger boards.
Consider
that Varo/Mezger fired the CHP without a suitable
replacement then refused to take calls from CHP
management who were blindsided with such irresponsible
firing.
Varo/Mezger
fired the largest private security in the world and
replaced it with a small regional one without evidence
of due diligence.
The
first traffic fatality in Coto de Caza happened on the
Varo/Mezger watch – and so did the second one.
After
the Varo/Mezger board was coerced to bring back the
CHP because of the short-termed anger over the first
fatality, the road certification expired rendering the
CHP re-hiring practically useless for a time – the
blame went to a missing “tickler file like the ones
trademark attorneys use”
The
gardener and the private security guard got a raise
before the Varo/Mezger board was coerced into renewing
the CHP contract for 2007.
The
private security guard is being trained, since
apparently he does not know which end of the US flag
is up, yet the CHP is the only service provider in the
Varo/Mezger boards to ever get a contract reviewed
quarterly!
It
is no secret that Varo/Mezger are not welcomed in San
Juan Capistrano.
It
is no secret that among Varo/Mezger board supporters
are DUI defense attorneys.
It
is obvious that the Varo/Mezger board is trying to
push CHP management away so they can finally get their
way.
If
this is not a classic case of depraved indifference,
we do not know what may qualify!

We implemented periodic performance reviews of
suppliers as part of our management function;
however, I don’t think we ever actually
implemented a quarterly contract as was reported is
the case with the CHP today. And, the signal
that that sends is that the current incompetent
Varo/Mezger CZ Board does not trust the CHP.
Of course, Varo has called the CHP
“Extortionists” in public so that should be no
surprise to anyone. This is no way to
build a supplier partnership. Joe Morabito
P.S.
Varo/Mezger have not gone out to bid for property
management services in more than five years; yet the
CHP gets a quarterly contract. Go figure Joe
Morabito
The
animosity the Varo/Mezger board has shown the CHP
can only be matched by our own lapse in forgetting
about the new standard of leadership set when Varo
referred to CHP management as extortionists!
Additionally,
consider that the Varo/Mezger board is paying UPS
1000% more that it pays the CHP, while getting
1,000,000% less benefit, yet decides to train the
private security employees, while treating the CHP
management as extortionists!
Not to
mention that the board has ailed to take any
tangible action and/or respond to a number of
reported irregularities with the management of the
current private security company. BUZZ
Jan:
The incompetent Varo/Mezger CZ Board continues to
demonstrate
hostility toward the CHP. Varo has always resented
having to pay for
this service. If you remember, given our taxes, I
wasn't too pleased
with having to pay for CHP services either; but I
got over it once I
realized there was no better option to get
pro-active traffic patrols
into Coto. Putting the CHP on a quarterly contract
basis sends two
messages: 1. The CZ Board does not trust them. 2.
This is not a long
term relationship/ partnership. If one of our
clients did that to us; we
would walk away from the business because we would
not want to devote
resources to a client that was not willing to
partner with us to achieve
mutual success. No one on the current CZ Board seems
to have any
business common sense. It really is amazing. Joe
Morabito
Hi
Joe:
What
we find even more surprising and disheartening, is
the “independent candidate’s” willingness to
follow the piper – no questions asked – even
when this board will be held to higher standards:
Association liability keeps increasing by the day!
