WHAT
COTO DE CAZA NEEDS FROM SUPERVISOR BATES

The
reality is that we need just two things from
Supervisor Pat Bates that should justifiably be funded
by the county given the tax dollars that we pay.
They are about $240,000 a year of pro-active Sheriff
and/or CHP traffic patrols in Coto to deal with the
speeding problem on our streets and the county should
be paying for 50% of the maintenance of our Sports
Park because 50% of the kids playing there come from
outside Coto and therefore are not dues paying members
of our Association that is currently funding 100% of
the maintenance cost. This total would probably
amount to about $400,000 a year of county money coming
into Coto. Given that Coto residents probably
pay several billion dollars in local, state and
federal taxes of every variety known to man, I would
think that Supervisor Bates should be able to make a
case to other Supervisors to return about $400,000 to
our community without having to steal from the poor in
Orange County in a way that is not
justified.
We
don’t need a study paid for by tax payer (editors
note: The CZ Master Association headed by
Robert Varo has been pursuing turning Coto de Caza
into a City - this study is just plain propaganda to
convince residents that City is good) and CZ dues
money to tell us that we pay a lot in taxes. We
write the checks and are fully aware of the money we
pay in taxes. What we need is for Supervisor
Bates to put the votes together to fund these
particular items. Both county expenditures are
justified specific to public safety and fairness since
essentially our Sports Park is open to the public,
so I would think Supervisor Bates should have no
problem convincing other Supervisors that we should be
getting this small slice of the pie given what we pay
in taxes. If the Supervisor can’t make this
happen, then she is of no particular value to Coto
voters and we are back to the same old, same old that
we had under blow dried Tom Wilson. Joe Morabito
