Coto de Rocky Road?

January 28, 2007

From inception, Coto de Caza was designed with the Bucolic feel in mind – after all, that is what Coto de Caza means.  With the Advent of the Varo/Mezger administration, rules, regulations and CC&Rs have been thrown out of the window.  First was the “free” trees that ended up costing the community over $45,000.00 when all was said and done.

Then there was the brilliant “Arizona Look” suggested and implemented by a high-priced consultant, which ended up being removed, and eventually replaced with the “Rocky Road” Look

So, to go along with the $5,000.000.00/year landscaping budget in Coto de Caza and to be consistent with the evolving look for Coto de Caza Drive, from Bucolic to Arizona to Rocky, a committee chartered with the task of finding a suitable new name for Coto de Caza Drive has been formed, an already a number of proposals have been advanced:

to a number of alternatives, such as:

  • Coto de Rocky
  • Coto de RiverRock
  • Coto de RiverDance
  • Coto de Pesca ("Fishing place")
  • Coto de Fishy
  • Coto de Orlando
  • Coto de Pebbles
  • Coto de Piedras
  • Coto de Rocks
  • Coto de RiverLook
  • Coto de Rocky Road
  • Coto de Fiasco
  • Coto de Nada
Please send your suggestions.  If you find a more appropriate name, let us know and we will send it to the Truth In Advertising Name Change Committee.

Hello All:  It dawned on me as I drove through our gates this morning that we have stone work at our gates and ledger stone here and there in Coto at tract entrances.  So instead of coordinating our parkways on Coto de Caza Drive with that design theme which could have easily been done through use of colored, stamped concrete, the dopes on the current Varo/Mezger incompetent CZ Board and their high priced Consultants that brought us the desert plants that had to be removed decided to introduce river rock.  Gosh, I guess we must have the Colorado River running through Coto so there must be a connection.  Clearly, we either need some Gay men on the Board with some style and design sense or maybe just some CZ Board Members with common sense.  This is another Varo/Mezger fiasco.  As we drive by those rocks every day, we are reminded of their incompetence.  These characters must have rocks in their heads which may be the reason they chose rocks for our main street.  Joe Morabito

This is what happens when $5,000,000.00/ year allocated for landscaping are spent without any transparency and accountability.

Also why we now refer to Coto de Caza Drive (once bucolic), to Coto de Orlando (as in Orlando Florida ).  Buzz

No one is minding the store.  There is often no strategic thinking on the Varo/Mezger incompetent CZ Board.  Those river rocks are just symptomatic of a much bigger problem.  Short term thinking by CZ Board Members who do not think through their actions.  We have seen it time and again under Varo/Mezger and it continues to cost us all money.   Joe Morabito
